You'll mostly be using the Veil of Mist brush technique to get through quasi-puzzles in the dungeons, however it can be effective in combat. Not all enemies are vulnerable to Inferno, but those that are feel it bad. When fighting enemies that have flames, you can use Inferno to bring the flame to other enemies. The places where you'll need to use Inferno for puzzle solving should be obvious, but chances to use it in combat may not be so apparent. Inferno works for both puzzle solving and combat. Some enemies (including the black imp) can be completely knocked out of the air, making them easier to combat. In combat, use the Galestorm brush technique to affect flying enemies. The direct you draw the line determines the direction of the wind, so if your first try doesn't yield the desired result the try drawing the opposite direction. This brush technique is useful both in puzzle solving and in combat. This is useful when you want to explore an area at night, as you might when hunting down wanted monsters to cross off your list. Use it to turn day to night or to simply reset the nighttime clock. The Crescent brush technique has the opposite effect of the Sunrise technique, as you can imagine. Draw a straight line going upwards from bubbling power spring to create a fountain platform which you can ride, letting you reach ledges above. You can use it to put out fires, including fires that cover item chests, giving you access to their goods. Watersprout can be used in a couple of different ways. You may need to quickly find another blossom to swing to. When swinging to upside-down Konohana blossoms, be prepared to fall after the swing. Make sure you see the green Holy Smoke before starting and ending your brush stroke to ensure the Vine catches its target. Connect either Amaterasu or large hooks to Konohana blossoms to create the vine. There are only a couple of uses for the Vine technique, but it's important to know how it works. Draw a Water Lily just below a ledge to create a platform from which you can jump high. In addition to helping you swim further, Water Lily can be used to let you reach ledges that overhang bodies of water. By stepping onto a Water Lily, you'll reset Amaterasu's breath meter, letting you continue to swim further. You'll need to use the Water Lily brush technique in a few areas in order to traverse over large bodies of water. If you swing the camera around, you can often line up multiple trees to revive with just one Bloom stroke. Use it often to revive wilted trees and earn valuable Praise needed to increase your powers. Use this knowledge to better position your Cherry Bombs.īloom is one of the most important brush techniques. drawing the bomb big on the screen) will create a Cherry Bomb close to the screen. When drawing a Cherry Bomb, remember that a smaller brush stroke will place the bomb further away from you while a large brush stroke (i.e. When the Cherry Bomb is drawn next to objects that can be exploded it will detonate almost instantly, making it easier to hit moving enemies with the attack. The Cherry Bomb can be used to blow up environment obstacles (look for cracks in the walls) as well as enemies. Another use for Power Slash: Use the brush technique to open underwater chests and release their items. Position the camera as you ready your brush to slash through everything at once. Remember that your slash can hit multiple enemies and items with just one stroke. You can also use Power Slash to knock items from trees and break pots. In combat, use Power Slash to break through enemy defenses (though not all enemies are always vulnerable-check out the Basics section of this guide for details on fighting enemies). Power Slash is useful in many situations, including combat and in general exploration. One thing you may not know: Press down the TRIANGLE button firmly to make a wide stroke that makes it easier to cover empty space. It's very simple and straight-forward-simply use Rejuvenation to fill in gaps in bridges and repair other obviously damaged things. This is one of the least used brush techniques in the game. When we're exploring, we use the Sunrise brush technique frequently to make sure we don't get interrupted with a brief scene showing the falling of night. You can use this to change night into day, or to simply reset the game's clock to avoid a transition to night. Draw a circle in the sky and the sun will come out. This brush technique is very straight-forward.
